At OrbRom, the quality of our services depends heavily on the qualifications, clinical knowledge, and experience of the professionals working directly with children and families. As we continue expanding our multidisciplinary services, our priority is to recruit highly qualified specialists who can deliver evidence-based intervention to international professional standards.
We are pleased to welcome Anu Pawar, MSc SLP, to the OrbRom team as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Cambodia.
Anu joins our clinical team with postgraduate qualifications in Speech-Language Pathology, extensive clinical training, and experience supporting children across a range of speech, language, communication, feeding, and motor speech needs.
A Master’s-Qualified Speech-Language Pathologist
Anu completed both her Master of Speech-Language Pathology (M.SLP) and Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP) at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysore.
She is also a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist (CRR No. A113831) and has completed DIR® Floortime 101 certification.
Her additional clinical training includes experience with:
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Oral Placement Therapy tools
- Feeding and swallowing intervention
- Motor speech intervention
- DTTC approaches for Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)
- VitalStim
- tDCS
- Individual and group speech-language intervention
This combination of academic preparation and specialized clinical training supports OrbRom’s objective of developing a multidisciplinary team capable of addressing increasingly complex communication and developmental needs.
Evidence-Based Speech Therapy in Cambodia
Speech and language difficulties can affect much more than a child’s ability to pronounce words. Communication influences learning, social interaction, behavior, independence, participation at school, and relationships with family members and peers.
Effective speech therapy therefore requires careful assessment and individualized clinical planning rather than a single approach for every child.
Anu’s clinical approach emphasizes identifying each child’s current communication abilities, determining functional priorities, and developing intervention according to the child’s individual profile.
Depending on the child, therapy may address areas such as receptive language, expressive language, speech production, social communication, motor speech, functional communication, feeding and swallowing, or the use of alternative communication systems.
Experience With AAC and Complex Communication Needs
One important area of Anu’s clinical background is Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
AAC can include low-tech communication boards and visual systems as well as high-tech speech-generating devices and communication applications. These systems may be appropriate for children who are non-speaking, minimally speaking, or unable to communicate their needs effectively through speech alone.
AAC does not simply mean giving a child a device. Appropriate intervention requires assessment, selection of suitable communication methods, systematic teaching, modelling, and collaboration between therapists, teachers, parents, and other caregivers.
This expertise complements OrbRom’s wider approach to special needs intensive intervention, where communication goals can be incorporated into a child’s broader educational and developmental program.
Supporting Children With Childhood Apraxia of Speech
Anu has also received hands-on training in DTTC for Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS).
Childhood Apraxia of Speech is a motor speech disorder in which a child has difficulty planning and coordinating the movements necessary for speech. Intervention for suspected CAS requires appropriate assessment and a treatment approach designed around the child’s specific speech-motor needs.
Specialized professional training is particularly important in these cases because intervention must be based on the underlying communication difficulty rather than simply practicing individual sounds repeatedly.
Working With Families as Part of Therapy
Speech-language intervention does not end when the therapy session finishes.
Children use communication throughout their day—at home, at school, during play, and when interacting with other people. For this reason, Anu incorporates collaboration with families into her clinical work.
Parents can better support progress when they understand what their child is working on, why particular strategies are being used, and how those strategies can be incorporated naturally into everyday routines.
This collaborative model is also central to OrbRom’s approach across developmental and educational assessments and intervention services.
Building a Highly Qualified Multidisciplinary Team
OrbRom continues to invest in recruiting professionals with strong academic qualifications, relevant clinical experience, specialized training, and a commitment to continuing professional development.
Our objective is not simply to expand the number of services available. We want to build one of the strongest multidisciplinary special education and therapy teams available to families in Cambodia.
Speech-language pathology is an essential part of that multidisciplinary model. Speech-Language Pathologists may collaborate with special educators, occupational therapists, teachers, parents, schools, and other professionals to understand the complete needs of a child.
Anu’s qualifications and clinical experience strengthen this collaborative approach.
