At OrbRom Center, we believe that inclusive education begins with compassion, commitment, and community. This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming Ear Kimse, a high school senior from CIA FIRST International School, who volunteered with our special needs preschool program. What started as a simple inquiry turned into a month of meaningful learning, connection, and positive impact.
A Passion for Inclusive Education
Before joining us, Kimse reached out with a thoughtful email expressing his deep interest in neurodiversity and inclusive education. He asked for an opportunity to assist in any way possible—whether supporting classroom routines, helping teachers, or simply being present with our students. His initiative, sincerity, and willingness to learn were evident from the start.
We recognized that kind of passion doesn’t come along every day, and we were excited to open our doors to a young individual so eager to contribute meaningfully.
Learning by Doing
Throughout the month, Kimse immersed himself in daily preschool activities. He helped prepare classroom materials, supported students during sensory play and transitions, and assisted teachers with day-to-day routines. His calm presence and curiosity made him a favorite among the children, and his positive attitude brought fresh energy to our team.
What stood out most was his ability to engage with students gently and respectfully—always observing, always listening, and always ready to help. For many of our children who face sensory challenges or communication difficulties, Kimse became a consistent and comforting presence.
Growth Beyond the Classroom
Kimse’s experience went beyond helping in the classroom. He learned about strategies used in special education, gained hands-on experience in structured routines, and developed a deeper understanding of what it means to support neurodiverse learners. He also observed speech and occupational therapy sessions and asked thoughtful questions that showed his genuine interest in the field.
This type of hands-on exposure is rare for high school students, and we’re proud that OrbRom Center could provide a space where young people like Kimse can explore their interests in real-world settings.
A Celebration of Effort
As his volunteer placement came to an end, we held a small celebration to thank Kimse for his dedication and hard work. We presented him with a certificate of appreciation and acknowledged the meaningful role he played during his time with us.
His month at OrbRom may have been short, but the impact he made was lasting. His support allowed teachers to focus more deeply on instruction, and his interactions with students helped foster the kind of inclusive, nurturing environment we strive for every day.
We are inspired by young changemakers like Kimse—individuals who step forward with curiosity, kindness, and a desire to make a difference. His journey reflects the power of youth involvement in inclusive education and reminds us that creating a more supportive world begins with small, intentional actions.
To Kimse: Thank you for your commitment, kindness, and the genuine care you brought to our students. We wish you all the best in everything that comes next. We hope your time at OrbRom has been as valuable for you as it has been for us.
