Providing meaningful support for students with additional learning needs requires more than excellent teaching, it requires strong collaboration. This week, Harrods International Academy visited OrbRom Learning Support Center for a meeting between both Learning Support teams to review our successful partnership over the past year and discuss how we can further strengthen the support available to students.

As the number of students requiring individualized learning support continues to grow, partnerships between schools and specialist centers play an increasingly important role in delivering consistent, evidence-based interventions that help children succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

A Year of Successful Collaboration

Over the past year, Harrods International Academy and OrbRom Center have worked closely together to support students with diverse learning profiles, including those with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, speech and language disorders, and developmental delays.

Through regular communication between school staff and OrbRom specialists, students have benefited from coordinated intervention plans, shared educational strategies, and ongoing professional collaboration. Rather than working independently, both teams have focused on ensuring that children receive consistent support across every learning environment.

This collaborative approach allows teachers and therapists to work toward the same developmental and educational goals, helping students transfer new skills from therapy sessions into their classrooms and daily school routines.

Strengthening Support for the New Academic Year

During this latest meeting, both teams discussed ways to expand and strengthen the partnership for the coming academic year.

Topics included improving communication between professionals, sharing educational expertise, coordinating student support plans, and identifying opportunities to further enhance inclusive practices within the school environment.

When schools and specialist providers work together, decisions are based on shared observations and professional expertise rather than isolated information. This allows interventions to be adjusted more quickly and ensures that every professional involved is working toward the same objectives.

Why Collaboration Benefits Students

Research consistently shows that children make greater progress when parents, teachers, therapists, and learning support professionals collaborate regularly.

Students benefit from:

  • Consistent expectations between school and therapy.
  • Shared behaviour and communication strategies.
  • Earlier identification of learning challenges.
  • Better monitoring of progress.
  • More effective transition of newly learned skills into everyday classroom activities.

This coordinated approach helps students build confidence while reducing confusion caused by different expectations across environments.
