The Orton-Gillingham Method (OG) is a multisensory, structured, and sequential approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling. It is based on the idea that students learn best when they use all of their senses to process information.

OG lessons typically involve the following steps:

  1. Direct instruction: The teacher provides clear and explicit instruction in the targeted skill.
  2. Multisensory presentation: The teacher uses a variety of activities to help students learn the skill, such as seeing, hearing, touching, and moving.
  3. Practice: Students have opportunities to practice the skill in a variety of ways.
  4. Review: The skill is reviewed regularly to ensure that students have mastered it.

OG is a highly effective approach for teaching students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. It has been shown to improve students’ reading, writing, and spelling skills.
