At OrbRom Center, we believe that meaningful learning extends beyond the classroom. One of the best ways for young people to discover their interests and develop valuable skills is through real-world experience. Over the past month, we had the pleasure of welcoming Ing Maralido, a Grade 11 student from Northbridge International School Cambodia, for a one-month internship with our multidisciplinary team.
The internship was made possible through Alejandra Arreaga Urizar, Inclusion & Student Support Leader at Northbridge International School Cambodia, who encouraged Lido to explore the field of special education and early intervention through hands-on learning.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Throughout his internship, Lido had the opportunity to observe and support various aspects of our daily work. He spent time with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, special education teachers, and behavior support professionals, gaining insight into how different disciplines collaborate to meet the unique needs of every child.
Rather than simply observing, Lido actively participated in daily routines, classroom activities, therapy preparation, and team discussions whenever appropriate. His eagerness to learn allowed him to gain a deeper understanding of the work involved in supporting children with diverse learning profiles.
A Curious Mind and a Compassionate Heart
From his first day at OrbRom Center, Lido demonstrated qualities that immediately stood out. He approached every experience with genuine curiosity, asked thoughtful questions, and embraced every opportunity to expand his knowledge.
What impressed our team the most was his compassion. Working with children requires patience, empathy, flexibility, and a willingness to see the world through each child’s perspective. Lido consistently demonstrated these qualities throughout his internship, showing kindness and respect to every child and member of our team.
He also displayed persistence when faced with unfamiliar situations. Rather than stepping back, he sought to understand, learn, and improve—qualities that are essential for anyone considering a future career in education, psychology, therapy, or healthcare.

During his internship, Ing Maralido assembled our new painting easels, helping prepare creative spaces for the children at OrbRom Center.
The Importance of Student Internships
Experiences like these help bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice. Students gain a realistic understanding of different career paths while developing communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
For organizations like OrbRom Center, welcoming student interns also provides an opportunity to inspire the next generation of professionals who may one day choose careers supporting children with diverse developmental and educational needs.
Whether students ultimately pursue special education, speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, medicine, or another profession entirely, early exposure to inclusive environments helps build empathy, confidence, and leadership.
Building Strong School Partnerships
We are grateful to Northbridge International School Cambodia for supporting experiential learning opportunities for their students and to Alejandra Arreaga Urizar for helping make this internship possible.
Strong partnerships between schools and community organizations create valuable opportunities for students to develop practical skills while gaining a deeper appreciation of inclusive education and child development.
Thank You, Lido
We would like to thank Lido for choosing to spend the past month with us. His positive attitude, strong work ethic, curiosity, and genuine compassion made him a valued member of our team.
We are confident that the experiences he gained at OrbRom Center will serve him well in the future, whatever career path he chooses. We wish him continued success in his studies at Northbridge International School Cambodia and look forward to seeing all that he accomplishes in the years ahead.
At OrbRom Center, we remain committed to supporting future professionals through meaningful learning experiences that make a lasting impact on both students and the children they serve.
